Private Land Hunt #1 - Rifle

This hunt occurs on private ranches near Raton, New Mexico. These ranches have the potential to produce 300 B&C class bulls for the hunters. The cost of the hunt includes meals, guide, courtesy transportation during the hunt, and trophy preparation of the animal. The hunter is responsible for their personal gear, weapon, transportation to Raton, New Mexico, and license ($550.00 across the counter). Because we are always looking at additional ranches, acquiring new ranches, and negotiating different leases, the price of the hunts may be different than advertised.

Rifle hunts begin in early October to take advantage of the rut and the bugling of the bulls. We monitor elk on the ranch and if there are no elk, your hunt will be moved or changed to the next year. You will be hunting where we know there are elk. We have never, not put anyone on bulls during our tenure on these ranches. We have always presented opportunities to harvest bull elk.

The property is home to a large number of resident Elk, Deer, Bear, and Turkey. The opportunity to harvest a large, Pope & Young or Boone & Crockett trophy bull elk, deer, or bear is excellent. Elk licenses are guaranteed via private land permits. Other licenses are available over the counter. Catch and release fishing for rainbow trout in the 20-inch class is also available to clients. Lodging and Meals are provided at the ranch. No more than six hunters will be permitted during any given hunting period, normally four at a time. Clients will have their own bedroom, with friends sometimes sharing a room, in a large home on the ranch. The home is nicely furnished with a hot running shower and bathtub, large kitchen and large living room areas. Satellite television and telephone service are also available. Hot breakfasts, lunches, and dinners will be provided each day. Snacks are available at all times. Safety and comfort for each one of our hunters is of the highest concern. Both archery and rifle hunts are available for all big game species. Combination hunts are available for elk, deer and bear during the archery season in September. Public Land Hunts

Carson National Forest Unit 51 & 52

Kiowa hunts in Game Management Unit 52, located in North Central New Mexico. This unit is approximately 300,000 acres in size and is a roadless/wilderness area that prohibits off road vehicles and off road traffic of any type. The area does have numerous open roads within the unit, often two to three miles apart, which allows the hunter access to areas to hunt by foot or horseback. This unit has an excellent elk population and the number of hunters is controlled, as opposed to most of Colorado’s public land units. The odds of drawing a license are excellent with the outfitter number. We have been 100% successful on our guided rifle hunts for two years and have had a 77% success rate on all rifle hunters for two years. Bow elk hunts can be combined with a bow deer hunt also, at no additional hunting fee.

Unit 51 is approximately 380,000 acres (594 square miles). This unit is not a roadless unit and the use of four wheelers is allowed on any designated road. The nearest town is Tres Piedres, NM at the northeast corner of the unit. This unit allows the use of ATV’s on all roads and for retrieval of your game.

We offer two types of hunts in these units:
Guided: These hunts include the use of the outfitter number for drawing a license, the appropriate number of guides, accommodations, meals, courtesy transportation during the hunt, retrieval of game and trophy preparation of the animal. The hunter is responsible for putting in for the license, with our help, his/her personal gear, and weapon, and transportation to and from camp.

Self-guided: These hunts are for those hunters that want a quality hunt, feel confident about hunting elk on their own, and do not want a guide and the hassle of bringing a camp with them. The self-guided hunts include the use of the outfitter number for drawing a license, a person in camp with maps knowledgeable of the area to direct the hunter to good areas, accommodations, meals, retrieval of game and trophy preparation of the animal. The hunter is responsible for putting in for the license with our help, his/her personal gear, weapon, and all personal transportation.

These hunts can be combined with a bow deer hunt also.
