Public Land Mule Deer Hunts

Rifle Deer Hunts are offered on public land in Game Management unit 33, 51A and unit 52. Units 51A and 52 are located in North Central New Mexico and unit 33 is in the southeast portion of the state. These areas hold some outstanding trophy animals. Though the population is not large, for the real trophy hunters these are great hunts. Unit 51A and 52 hunts can be combined with an elk rifle hunt or a bow elk hunt for a combination hunt. The unit 33 hunt is a deer hunt only. These are draw unit and the odds of drawing these licenses are excellent.

  • The cost of Guided Hunts include: the use of the Outfitter Number for drawing a license, the appropriate number of guides, Accommodations (51A and 52 only), meals, courtesy transportation during the hunt, retrieval of game and caping for trophy preparation of the animal.
  • The hunter is responsible for: applying for the license, with our help, their personal gear including bedroll and weapon, and transportation to and from camp.
  • The cost of Self-Guided Hunts (51A and 52 only) Include: the use of the outfitter number for drawing a license, accommodations in a main tent camp, meals, a person in camp with maps, knowledgeable of the area, to direct the hunter to good areas, retrieval of game animal.
  • The Hunter is responsible for: applying for the license. The odds of drawing these licenses are excellent with the use of the outfitter number (application assistance if needed), personal gear, bedroll and weapon, transportation to and from camp and during the hunt.
