Bear hunts occur in different units throughout New Mexico. The hunts are conducted on public and private land and are done with the use of dogs. The success rate is very high and is not an overly demanding physical hunt.

• The cost of the hunt includes: guide, trained bear tracking dogs, courtesy transportation during the hunt, private land access as available/necessary, and trophy preparation of the animal.
• The hunter is responsible for: his personal gear and weapon, license, accommodations and meals, and to meet at the designated area prior to the hunt.
